I have something to brag about. I really do. What I don’t have is much in the line of physical evidence. Actually, the only thing I have is this:
Those are pictures of a contract with The Saturday Evening Post and me signing it. The actual contract is all I have to hang on the wall–and don’t think I won’t. It’s the only physical evidence that my short story, “Slider,” won a slot among the honorable mentions in The Saturday Evening Post Great American Fiction contest.

Everything else is digital.

It’s such an honor to be included. I’m so excited!
When they first notified me about being in the anthology, MSB and I were out on the farm, loaded up, about to leave. The only place my smart phone picks up a signal out there is on top of the hill. So, here we are, truck loaded and headed toward the gate, the man daydreaming about moving out there, and me scrolling through my emails.
He wasn’t quite sure how to take it when I started squealing. In fact, it took awhile for me to catch my breath and explain it to him. When we got to the small restaurant in town, I blurted my news to the first person who said hello. She probably still thinks I’m nuts.
Now I have evidence!–assuming she’s on the internet.
Since the anthology is digital, I can’t take it home and show it to Mom or give her a copy to show off to her friends. And, I don’t have a certificate to hang on my brag wall.
But, since it’s digital, it’ll be in cyberspace forever!
By the way, did I mention that I’ve been published by The Saturday Evening Post?
