This is Kat Connolly and her furry little friend, whose name I don’t know. Kat is the managing director of KP Direction, LLC–website development experts. She’s also a dear friend and prayer warrior. So when she said I needed to make some changes to my blog, I listened. Well, reluctantly, but I listened.
One of the things she suggested is an “About Me” page. I balked about that at first–this whole blog is about me, unless it’s about writing, and even then it’s about me indirectly, because writing is one of my passions. And the idea of writing an entire page “about me” seems . . . well, I don’t know what to call it. I mean, really, who wants to know about me? I’m a housewife, for cryin’ out loud!
But I guess I’m a housewife with fans because I’m also an author. And, like Kat said, unless folks take the time to go back and read every post I’ve written in the five years I’ve owned this blog, they’re not going to know much about me. So, you can expect an “About Me” page to show up eventually.
You can also expect some format changes, with sidebars on either side of the posts instead of clumped up on the right. I kinda like that idea because the right side does look crowded. Terribly, terribly crowded. I may even be able to cut enough stuff out to have only one sidebar. That would work.
Next thing Kat advised is to figure out who my audience is. Oy vey. I don’t know. I think you guys are mostly writers, right? With a few readers thrown in? I know lots of you are folks I consider friends who have prayed for me during my various trials over the years. I’ve always said this site is eclectic, even though I am supposed to have it focused on one group of people. All the blog pros say so. But from the looks of my stats, I draw just as many readers for my non-writing posts as I do for my writing posts. And even though I’ve deleted the bulk of them, my political/social issues posts seem to draw in some healthy numbers too. But I really try to stay away from those. Maybe someday I’ll start another blog dedicated to the redhead’s wisdom, but I don’t think it belongs here. Except when I’m about to bust into a gazillion pieces unless I get something off my chest (and these days, I have so much on my chest, I’ve gone up a couple of bra sizes).
Otherwise, I think this site will just have to stay eclectic. Maybe I’ll do personal on Mondays, writing-related on Wednesdays, and political/social on Fridays.
Or maybe I’ll leave it alone.
Whenever you visit here, you won’t know what you’re likely to find. I’ll either be writing about my on-going Crohn’s crisis (will itΒ ever end???), my 81-year-old mother and her antics, my family and cats, or lessons I’ve learned while editing others’ works. I may even write about my own writing when I get back to it. And when I get The Cat Lady’s Secret published, you can bet I’ll write about that.
This site will be either professional or not, depending on my mood and what I feel I have to write about.
If you don’t like that idea, tell me now, before we make the changes. Actually, I bet I ought to do a poll. What are your favorite types of “Linda posts”?
My favorites types of posts? All of them. I really did wake up this morning thinking about you and wondering if you really *would* write that About Me page. Hahaha!
I’m excited about the changes, dear friend. Hugs!

How funny that you’d wake up with me on your mind. I’m blessed!
Don’t disappear. I’ll need you to help me with the changes. π

Fun! I’ll look forward to seeing what kind of changes you come up with. As for my favorite type of posts . . . I really do like them all. But my favorites are probably the personal ones.

Okay–a vote for “personal” posts. Those are fun to write.

I like them all. I have to admit I have ‘lately’ been skipping the writing ones as much. I should keep learning because I still want to write – the desire is there but not the time at this point. I think the About Me page is a great idea. And you are hardly “just a housewife.” Elaine

Uh-huh! Skipping the writing posts! Well, okay–here’s another vote for more “personal” posts. That’s all right with me. Less work. π

I agree with the others, I like all of your posts, Linda and rarely miss one! I do like this template. It was time for an update, although the old one wasn’t bad, this just looks fresher. Still keeping you in my prayers. God bless you.

I’m glad you like this new look. Sometimes I think it’s a bit stark, but I guess I’m just missing some of the clutter. π
Thanks for your prayers. I still need them.
