And The Winner Is . . .

The winner of Wednesdays drawing is “outandin”! She’s one of the ones who knew that a cowbell on the bottom of a bull rope is to add weight to the rope so it will fall away easily once the rider is off.

My cover designer found a bell with a cross on it in her research and used a replica of it for my cover, which is wonderful.  The cover needed some element to let readers know the book is a Christian novel.

I’d be willing to bet folks are wondering what a pen holder featuring horses has to do with bull riding.  Answer–absolutely nothing! In fact, none of the little things I picked out for my readers have to do with bull riding.

But that isn’t as dumb as it sounds. The items come from specialty stores here in town–stores I approached to stock my books. Nothing helps soften a retailer faster than making a purchase! Aside from marketing this thing through cyberspace, I’m planning to have it stocked in various stores in Texas. Easier said than done when the store is a chain, but  . . . doable. Just takes footwork. And as long as my feet work, I’ll keep trying!

Congrats to “outandin,” and y’all stay tuned for next week, when I have another non-bull-riding gift to give away!

I assume you need my address now? I have a horse-crazy daughter who has a birthday coming up and she would be thrilled to get this! I’ll email you my address rather than post it here.

Well, I’m pretty horse-crazy myself, but in my case the “acute” stage is over and I am more than happy to pass this on to someone who is still obsessed. I was worse than her at her age and I remember what it was like!

Congrats to outandin, enjoy. I can’t wait until March 14 to get my grubby hands on a copy of Ride.
