Okay, here’s the catch-up report for those who have lives extending beyond Facebook: Mom wasn’t blessed with a positive answer to the “Let this be acute colitis” prayer (acute colitis, meaning it will be healed after a time and go away). Instead, she has Ulcerative Colitis, which is a hyper-active immune system disease in the family with Crohn’s, Lupus, and Rheumatoid Arthritis, and she’ll battle it for the rest of her life. But Goddid bless us with an early diagnosis. My Crohn’s Disease was misdiagnosed for three years.
We changed hematologists for her, which is a good thing. The old one was in his office only one day a week and was so backed up it took four hours to get in to see him once there. Mom was frequently too weak to make her appointments, and when she did, she was totally worn out afterward. Now she has a doctor who is closer, has a five-day work week, and promises to keep Mom less than an hour whenever she has to go in–sometimes only ten minutes! Great news there, but the true blessing is that Mom’s anemia isfinally improving. If we can just keep her blood count up, maybe she’ll continue to improve.
When I left this past Monday, she was feeling good on average, but we learned that one of her meds was drugging her, making her dull headed. It wasn’t the pill I thought it was, so I’m especially thankful to the nurses at Choice Home Health for discovering which one it was. Last I talked to her on the phone, she sounded chipper and energetic, an incredible blessing I haven’t received in a number of years.
And now for the last–but definitely not the least–of the good news:
Give the Lady a Ride debuts March 14, 2011!
Am I excited? Ya betcha! Am I a little freaked out that this is way too soon for me to have a good marketing plan/promotional strategy in place? Yeah, a bit. But hey, it isn’t like I didn’t have a few ideas, and one of them is The Big Western Giveaway.
- Every Wednesday, beginning next week, I’ll ask my readers a question about bull riding and draw from the names of those who get the answer right. The prize winner will be announced on Fridays–and just wait until you see what I have for you!
So, keep in touch and see what surprises are in store for you every week. Help me celebrate the publication of my first book!
Be warned: I’ll repeat this message Monday just in case anyone missed it because I really don’t want anyone to miss it!!! 😀
Praying for your mom. God is in control.
When I was in my 20’s, right before I was married, I was diagnosed with ulcerative proctitis. Had to take those nasty drugs and even steroid enemas. So humiliating. I relapsed several times–but I still remember lying on the bathroom floor begging to be healed. Voila! That was 30 years ago.
So excited about your book. So fast! God’s timing is perfect.
